THE PROBLEM

Many coastal communities in Nigeria's Niger Delta lack reliable grid power. Without refrigeration, fishermen may need to smoke or dry fish soon after landing it, rather than sell it fresh. Heat and delays also threaten fruit and vegetables after harvest. Less time to sell can mean less choice and less income for the people who produce our food.
